Such Were Some of You

Jeremiah 8:12 – Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

The secular world cannot even blush for their conscience is seared 1 Timothy 4:2. Within Christian circles its common knowledge that the flesh cannot restrain the flesh. There is nothing redeemable within ourselves Psalm 53:3, we have no strength of our own Romans 5:6. Only the indwelling of the Holy Spirit can give a hopeless sinner hope Romans 15:13 Sanctification takes time, sometimes a lifetime. Its the same for all of us. We all have sins that must be put away, but it’s only the power of the spirit that can achieve this end.  As cautioned by Spurgeon:

“Beware of mixing even a little of self with the mortar with which you build, or you will make it untempered mortar, and the stones will not hold together. If you look to Christ for your beginnings, beware of looking to yourself for your endings. He is Alpha. See to it that you make Him Omega also. If you begin in the Spirit you must not hope to be made perfect by the flesh. Begin as you mean to go on, and go on as you began, and let the Lord be all in all in you.”

You could read all the books in the entire world, studying day and night and you would still not come to the knowledge of the truth without God.

Pray for the lost and those in darkness that they may too be called by the grace of God into the light to show ‘those who think they see that they are blind’ – John 9:39
